Härjulfs Resor was founded by Anders Olsson in 1999 and operating out of Stockholm, Sweden. The summer of year 2000, Härjulfs Resor relocated to Lillhärdal in the county of Härjedalen to establish a new tourism destination, primarily for groups and conferences, based on mid-swedens unique nature- and wilderness experiences as well as the historic witch culture and (winter time) Europes largest snow mobile trail network in the surroundings.

During the fall of 2004, Anders Olsson learned of a new TV series planned by SVT TV 4 (The Swedish public service broadcaster), based on the non-fiction historical book “Häxornas Tid” the age of the witches, written by the Swedish novelist Jan Guillou. Anders Olsson managed to convince the producer of the planned TV series to locate a large part of the production in Lillhärdal, where the actual events took place in the 17th century.      

ALMI and Härjulfs Resor decided to apply for an EU-project whose goal was to develop an extensive trail system for snowmobiles, since touring by snowmobile and related activities had become a growing attraction for groups and families the last few years. After two years the 27M SEK EU-project “Nordic Area” kicked off, and today the project is completed with Europe’s largest (1,000km/621miles) quality trail system for snowmobiles.

During the fall of 2004, Anders Olsson learned of a new TV Series planned by SVT TV 4 (The Swedish public service broadcaster) about the age of the witches, based on the book “Häxornas Tid”, written by the Swedish novelist Jan Guillou. Anders Olsson managed to convince the producer of the planned TV Series to locate a large part of the production in Lillhärdal, where the actual events took place in the 17th century and the programs are now also broadcasted worldwide by Discovery Channel.

The production work with the TV series was much covered by the national media and increased peoples awareness and knowledge about Lillhärdal’s historical past, a past that the novelist Jan Guillou regards as the most serious legal injustice in Swedish history. Lillhärdal became a popular tourist destination for many people during the production and has continued in popularity until today, with many visitors showing a renewed interest in Swedish history.

Besides supporting the production of the TV series and guiding tourists through it’s historical sites with great knowledge, Anders Olsson decided to initiate a new project, the construction of a museum, completely dedicated to the age of the witches in Lillhärdal.
